Kedar Massenburg goes from making good music to making fine wine

S2S Featured Article...

Kedar Massenburg is the music exec who brought us D'Angelo, Erykah Badu and other big names. Now he's developed a French wine called K'orus with his partner Jean-Sebastien Robicquet. Kedar considers himself to be an entrepreneur and a visionary. You can tell he has good taste as soon as you step into his huge home that looks like a five-star hotel. S2S Publisher Jamie Foster Brown went to visit him in his house, taste his fine wine and catch up on his journey from music producer to wine maker. The most interesting thing about Kedar is that he wasn't a wine drinker until he decided to invest in wine four years ago."I always did investments.

Like the first time I got my big check," said Kedar, before Jamie stopped him to verify that he was speaking of the $14 million check that he was rumored to have gotten when he became president of Motown Records. "No, not $14 million. I made more than that," Kedar said without giving a true figure. He continued, "Most people run out and buy a car. The first thing I did? Let me get my home built. I had this home built in '98. I'm here. Then I bought a place in Florida. I had my mother's home built. I had my sister's condo...."

Kedar isn't shy when it comes to discussing his business savvy. His investments maintain his lifestyle. "I was investing in JetBlue from the beginning, before they went public," Kedar said. He warns that you have to be smart about what you choose to invest in.
